We get in to see Queens of the Stone Age... who were pretty cool. After their set we started following the line of people who make their way into the insane crowd up at the front of the stage and got pretty close for New Found Glory. Can I tell you, New Found Glory puts on an amazing show. They're all about having fun and getting everyone riled up... awesome. Some kid w/a tattoo on his back of the band name got props for it and the band invited him to hang out. Lucky bastard. Now I know what my friend Jim Kelly was always talking about in Australia... "New Found GLory, they're gonna be huge" in his Boston accent. Sean and I met some cool kids in the crowd; this one guy was yelling like crazy b/c he kept getting hit in the nuts, that was funny. He left after NFG and we didn't think we'd see him again; turns out that he brings Sean a beer back! Good guy. So then, on comes ZWAN. I don't think anyone knows what the hell to expect, because, as Sean put it, "Holy shit, that's fucking Billy Corrigan." Everyone's in awe as the Smashing Pumpkin's ex lead singer comes walking out.... and for the first 5 minutes it was cool. He got all into his guitar, singing really emotionally, and the band was just CLOSE together on the set... sort of ironic, showing how tight knit they are whereas the Pumpkins were all over the place when they played. THen he just got annoying and played one song for like 15 minutes. That's when the guy Hal (yelling guy) starting yelling about how "Isn't that the guy from Small Wonder!" almost started a fight w/some bitch girl but, all these guys just yelled back at her.. she said something like, "I didn't pay 40 bucks to hear you talk shit" and Sean comes back with, "I DID!" she shut the hell up and got huffy puffy... but yeah, so Zwan was alright, I liked the Pumpkins better. So then, the eleventeen year olds start pushing like crazy to get as close as they possibly can to Good Charlotte. I mean, jesus christ you can only push SO FAR to the front of the stage. Sean managed to grab onto the front row railing and wedged his way inbetween two bitch girls who kept whining about the mosh pits. SHut the fuck up it's a concert, it's always crazy. Good Charlotte was pretty awesome. Lots of stuff with talking to the crowd which was cool. I ended up getting a guitar pick before they left the stage... suck on that eleventeen year old punks, didn't help much that you were moshing around giving each other bruises and shit when all you have to do is BEHAVE and you just might get a guitar pick thrown your way. And did I keep it... no. I gave it to Sean later on b/c I'm a nice girlfriend. I hope I pissed every fan off with that, just like I did w/STP when I got onstage HAHAHA! So by this time, Good Charlotte is over and all the teen boppers go home bitching that Coldplay sucks. F them get the hell out, I got a front row view for them thank god. I had seem them in Australia 3 years ago for The Big Day Out... and they were amazing out there. This show was short... only 6 songs. So since the Eagles won, AJ Feeley was there, and introduced the band. They were really good... completely different sound than any other band there which was cool as hell to hear. I got a drumstick after the set was over... is this not my lucky arena or what? I mean onstage w/STP at the Family Values Tour in 2001, and this show I get front row again and all this cool shit. Good times. On the way home in the morning, after like 4 hours of sleep and not studying whatsoever for my final, I got on Y100 to talk about the show. THat was cool. Morning guys on the radio are funny... the kid who got onstage w/New Found GLory b/c he had a tattoo on his back of their band name w/their autographs called in too. Crazy bastard. anyone that was there who wants to say some cool shit about it email me
